I'm trying to figure out in which post I mentioned something regarding the similarities between Rome and the current state of the USA. I can't find it, but I heard a story on NPR Wednesday morning that explains some of my thoughts. My journal holds the beginning of an essay about the same topic, but exploring Rome and the USA from the perspective of popular culture rather than governmental conquests. Take a listen.
