I'm looking through HigherEd.com's 2007/2008 CUPA-HR Salary Surveys. In particular, the Mid-Level Median Salaries. A few things stands out: On average, a catalog librarian earns less with a Master's degree than with a Baccalaureate degree. And a Reference & Instructor librarian earns less than $2000 between the two. Add into that a reference specialist with a Doctorate that earns less than one with a Master's. What is going on?!? Granted, I don't have the full report, but it's eye opening. All I have to say is that these average salaries are all over the place. They don't make rhyme or reason. Do colleges and universities no longer stand behind people with post-graduate education that many champion and require for these jobs?
